Precision Strike Missile (PrSM)

The U.S. military used its Precision Strike Missile (PrSM) for the first time during Operation Epic Fury - the attack on Iran in February 2026.

The U.S. Army's Lockheed Martin PrSM (Precision Strike Missile) is the next-generation, long-range missle designed to be fired from the existing M142 HIMARS launcher and the M270A2 launcher. It serves as a more capable replacement for the aging ATACMS missile. It provides greater range, (400-500 km), enhanced precision, and a higher capacity of two missiles per pod compared to one. The PrSM can target fixed and moving land or maritime targets.

The missiles, launched from a High Mobility Artillery Rocket System, commonly known as HIMARS, were evaluated as part of ongoing efforts to enhance the Army’s long-range precision strike capability. The PrSM is the next-generation, long-range precision-strike missile delivering critical capabilities to attack, neutralize, suppress, and destroy targets. The PrSM will replace the Army Tactical Missile System providing greater range and lethality for Army field artillery formations.
