Patriot Air Defense System

The Patriot interceptor surface-to-air missile (SAM) system ia a primary air defense weapon used by the United States Army and several allied states. It is manufactured by the U.S. defense contractor Raytheon. The AN/MPQ-53 radar tracks targets that are in the high to medium range. The Patriot is also an anti-ballistic missile system.
The Patriot system is modular and highly mobile. A Patriot battery can be setup in less than an hour. The major components are the fire control section and launchers, both mounted on M860 semi-trailers towed by Oshkosh M983 HEMTTs.
