Battle of Mariupol

The strategic city located on the coast of the Sea of Azov lies
along the 'land bridge' from the Russia border, through the
Donbas region, and to Crimea. The city was encircled by Russian
troops early in the conflict in the later part of February
2022. The 36th Separate Marine Brigade and Azov Battalion
fought a heroic defense of the city but were ultimately reduced
to defending a small, four-mile in area industrial complex
located on the shore of the Sea of Azov.
